1. Check for Backups
If you have a system backup or used backup software:
- Navigate to:
C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data
- Look for folders like Default, Profile 1, Profile 2, etc.
- If you find an older version of the profile folder, right-click it > Properties > Previous Versions > Restore.
2. Use Google Sync
If you had sync enabled with your Google account:
- Open Chrome.
- Create a new profile.
- Sign in with the same Google account.
- Chrome will automatically restore:
- Bookmarks
- History
- Passwords
- Extensions
3. Check Recycle Bin
- If you manually deleted the profile folder, it might still be in the Recycle Bin.
- Restore it from there if available.
4. Restore Bookmarks Manually
- Go to the profile folder (as above).
- Look for a file named Bookmarks.bak.
- Rename it to Bookmarks (no extension).
- Replace the existing Bookmarks file in the same folder.
5. System Restore (Windows only)
- Open Control Panel > Recovery > Open System Restore.
- Choose a restore point before the profile was deleted.
- This may recover the profile folder if it was part of the snapshot.
Important Notes
- Chrome may permanently delete profile data after 30 days.
- Always close Chrome before attempting file recovery or restoration.
- If you are unsure, create a backup of the current User Data folder before making changes.
